Hive Tracks Community,
The spring season in the US has been quite variable with summer like warmth in the southeast and prolonged cold and wet in the midwest which highlights the challenges we face as beekeepers. In the HiveTracks home yards, we finally had a good spring flow and have strong bees heading into the Sourwood season. We’ve been monitoring mites as well with low counts for most hives though there are a few overwintered hives that missed a spring mite management and are already carrying high loads with treatments required. As a reminder, you can record mite loads in HiveTracks for your hives and then opt in to have those numbers automatically shared with the Mitecheck.com national mite data site.
We hope that you had a great bee season for those in the southern half of the world and are ready for the winter and that the season is off to strong start for those in the northern half! Regardless of your location, now is a great time to get your account up to date and engage with the beekeeping community online. We want the HiveTracks community to be the best record keepers in the world, especially for tracking hive management and survival throughout the year, so log in to your account now and bring it up to date!
